IQNA – A competition on memorization of the Holy Quran was held in Katmandu, the capital of Nepal.

A Quran competition was held in Nepal's capital on February 10-11

 

It was organized on February 10-11 by the Saudi Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance in cooperation with the Islamic Commission of Nepal.

A total of 350 male and female Quran memorizers competed in two separate sections from men and women, al-Riyadh daily reported.

The closing ceremony was attended by the Saudi ambassador to Nepal, an official from the Saudi ministry of Islamic affairs, Head of the Islamic Commission of Nepal Shamim Mia Ansari and a number of Nepalese Muslim figures.

In an address, the envoy highlighted his country’s support for competitions on Quran memorization, recitation and interpretation and printing and distribution of Quran copies in different countries.

Eighteen top contestants were named as the top winners and awarded at the closing ceremony.

Nepal is a landlocked central Himalayan country in South Asia.
